Farmers To Visit Hry To Learn Organic Farming Tech | Lucknow News

Lucknow: The Uttar Pradesh government will soon send groups of progressive farmers from different parts of the state to Kurukshetra in Haryana to learn the best practices being adopted in low-cost organic farming.
The aim is to cover at least 1 lakh hectares under organic farming this Rabi season and for this the government will start training for farmers from next week, said a government spokesperson on Saturday.
The spokesperson added that the government is particularly interested in the model practiced in Gurukul School in Kurukshetra.
“Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has taken several steps to promote organic farming in the state and has also constituted UP natural farming board earlier this month to put a check on unabated usage of fertilisers, chemicals and other hazardous material in agriculture. Agricultural minister and senior officials of the agriculture department have already been to Kurukshetra to get a hands-on knowledge about the technique,” the spokesperson added.
The objective is to ensure all the blocks in the state have some natural farming by the end of the next year and a roadmap has already been prepared and executed by the agricultural department, he further said.
The department has also mapped 23 UP districts where 23,150 hectares of land will be diverted towards organic farming.
A senior officer from the agricultural department said the group of farmers will be taught how to generate organic nutrients through cow urine and dung. tnn
