Bentley Motors and Dezeen Unveil Global Retail

Bentley Motors and Dezeen have come together to introduce an influential design competition on a global scale, aiming to shape ‘The Future of Luxury Retail’ in both the automotive sector and beyond, whether in physical or digital formats.

The competition strives to inspire architects and designers worldwide to delve into innovative concepts and create enriching experiences that will propel the luxury retail industry forward while ensuring sustainability.

Exploring limitless possibilities, participants are encouraged to envision retail experiences in any realm of luxury, be it within the domains of architecture, automotive, fashion, furniture, hospitality, interiors, real estate, speciality travel, wellness, or any other luxury product or service that Bentley may venture into in the future.

According to Steven De Ploey, Bentley’s Global Head of Marketing, the automotive industry is currently undergoing a profound transformation. Car manufacturers are electrifying their product ranges on a large scale and reimagining the traditional car dealership model that has been deeply entrenched in automotive retail for generations.

Other luxury industries are also experiencing unprecedented changes, with the digital and physical worlds blending together and embracing innovative technologies like Web3, virtual reality, and augmented reality. Bentley, too, is undergoing a transformation, having made a commitment to electrify its entire vehicle lineup by 2030 – a pioneering move that sets the brand apart as the first luxury car manufacturer to embrace this change.

Simultaneously, Bentley is venturing further into contemporary lifestyle sectors, including interior design and furniture through Bentley Home. With the brand spearheading change in the luxury retail industry in a sustainable manner, these are exhilarating times.

This global competition marks an extension of Bentley Motors‘ three-year partnership with Dezeen, which was announced earlier this year. The Global Dezeen Awards, now in their sixth year, will be sponsored by Bentley for the years 2023, 2024, and 2025. These prestigious awards recognize the finest achievements in architecture, interiors, and design, acknowledging both studios and individual architects and designers for their exceptional work.

The core values of beauty, innovation, and beneficialness align harmoniously with Bentley’s ethos. The brand’s exceptional fusion of visually striking craftsmanship, engineering prowess, and innovative technology perfectly complements its groundbreaking Beyond100 strategy. Through this ambitious plan, Bentley is shaping a future driven by new technologies, materials, fuels, and skills, in pursuit of a progressive new world where luxury mobility reaches unparalleled heights through sustainable methods.

Bentley Motors and Dezeen Unveil Global Retail Design Contest

The competition officially commenced on 22 May 2023 and is open to participants worldwide, provided they are above 18 years of age. A total prize fund of £30,000 awaits the creators of the three most remarkable designs. Entries will be meticulously evaluated by a panel of expert judges, to be announced by Dezeen in the coming weeks. The submission deadline for entries is set for 7 July 2023, with the winners eagerly anticipated to be unveiled in August 2023.

In summary, Bentley Motors and Dezeen’s collaborative effort in launching this global competition reflects their commitment to shaping the future of luxury retail. By inviting architects and designers to envision groundbreaking concepts and immersive experiences, they aim to drive the luxury retail industry forward, all while embracing sustainability and ensuring a seamless integration of physical and digital realms.

With Bentley at the forefront of change, this competition presents an unprecedented opportunity to revolutionize the luxury retail landscape and create a future where exceptional design and unparalleled craftsmanship intertwine seamlessly with innovation and sustainability.
